Alfa Staff was founded by father & daughter team Gary Howells and Vikky Howells-Cook.

Alfa Staff started out as a specialist agency for Logistics but when word got out about the service that our clients were enjoying and how happy they were, other businesses wanted to know if we could help them too.

So we did!

And we did it well!!

Our story goes back to 2006….

Gary was thoroughly enjoying semi - retirement, driving a truck part time on a temporary basis for various recruitment agencies, it was very different to his transport operator days....

Around this time, Vikky left the transport industry and decided to join an agency and learn the ropes of HGV Driver Recruitment.

Vikky relished driver recruitment and worked for both an independent and a national agency gaining vital experience and insight into the industry, supporting both Blue Chip and independent hauliers equally.

During this time, Gary thought that the idea of training others sounded like fun so he studied to be a trainer, becoming PTTLS Level 3 qualified. Gary’s lifetime of experience in the industry best placed him to share his knowledge and teach the next generation of logistics personnel.

In 2009 Vikky and Gary established ‘award winning’ PLS Recruitment & Training.

Vikky looked after the driver recruitment and Gary looked after the training.

In 2011 for PLS, they were presented with 'Newport Start Up Business of the Year'

PLS was an immediate success! Supplying major Blue Chip clients from the off and word soon got around, PLS became a very busy agency! In 2012 it was sold to a competitor.

Over time more and more of their clients were calling and asking them to do it again, they couldn't get the same service anywhere and very much wanted them to come back into the industry.

So Alfa Staff was born.

Alfa Staff has gone from strength to strength and boasts some amazing team members, enabling the company to expand and diversify.

In July 2016, Andy Wales joined the business as Associate Director. Andy has 17 years in recruitment and vast experience in the Logistics field but also was very experienced in the employment of skilled & Technical, Automotive & Fleet and Permeant recruitment.

This knowledge and expertise has launched Alfa Staff onto a whole new level, providing much needed support across different sectors.

Alfa Staff is an independent agency with the experience, expertise and headhunting abilities of a national agency.
